The 2014 Volkswagen Beetle is a four-figure, two-door hatchback is the first time available in four trim levels. The first three of the engine: Beetle 2.5L, Beetle R-Line (turbocharged 2.0-liter petrol) and 2014 Volkswagen Beetle TDI. Notes later in the model year 2.5L will be replaced by the 1.8T. The fourth cutting the GSR, which is a major integrated R-Line with a unique color scheme.

The 2014 Volkswagen Beetle 2.5L come standard with 17-inch alloy wheels, the heated windshield-washer nozzles, heated mirrors, the full power accessories, air-conditioning, cruise control, a leather-wrapped-and-telescoping steering car wheel, heated and height-adjustable front seats, leatherette upholstery, Bluetooth phone and audio connectivity, a trip computer and an eight-speaker system with a CD player, iPod interface and an auxiliary audio jack. Also standard is VW’s New Car Net telematics system.

The 2014 Volkswagen Beetle Sunroof package adds a panoramic sunroof, keyless ignition / entry, satellite radio and a corporate audio interface. The Sunroof & Navigation package with the above plus 18-inch wheels, the navigation system, a rearview camera and a Fender premium audio system with a subwoofer.

The 2014 Volkswagen Beetle R-Line adds the following to the Beetle 2.5L equipment: a more powerful engine, 18-inch wheels, foglights, the rear spoiler, the sport-tuned suspension, sport seats, unique cloth upholstery, a work package, faux carbon-fiber accents and alloy pedals. The 2014 Volkswagen Beetle R-Line Sunroof and package adds the same items as the 2.5L Sunroof package along with the Fender audio system. The R-Line Sunroof, Sound and Navigation System adds 19-inch wheels, bi-xenon headlights, leather upholstery,  LED running lights, a rearview camera and a system going to the above package.

The GSR is an important R-Line with Sunroof, Sound and Navigation along with a unique yellow-and-black paint scheme, the large rear spoiler and a black leather interior with yellow stitching accents and specific floor mats. The 2014 Volkswagen Beetle TDI with the 2.5L standard equipment along with keyless ignition / entry, satellite radio, a Bureau audio interface and a work package. It also offers the 2.5L’s most Sunroof, Sound & Navigation package.

The 22014 Volkswagen Beetle to draw design inspiration from the original negative of the flower-power model, yet at the same features, controls and construction as modern Volkswagens. The cuts that runs across the dash and doors can be color-keyed to the exterior as the old bugs, while Turbo respectively dash-top criteria are available two-tone seats.

It is a beautiful quality manufacturing environment and not a Mini Cooper, it does not allow the sort of head-scratching that can come from odd placement and mobility control ergonomics. The most navigation system is easy to use, though its the small screen limits usefulness. The premium Fender system, on the other hand, is well worth extra cost and provides impressive sound quality.

Despite its seemingly low roof line, the Beetle still provide plenty of room for tall drivers, and many people will be in the front seat pretty cool. The 2014 Volkswagen Beetle backseat is also fairly roomy, though not as roomy as the related Volkswagen Golf. The 2014 Volkswagen Beetle 15.4-cubic-foot cargo hold is actually larger than the Golf’s with the 50/50 split-folding seat up. Lower the seat, however, and the Beetle only provide 29.9 cubes of maximum distance instead of the Golf’s 46 cubes

2014 Volkswagen Beetle Engine

The 2014 Volkswagen Beetle is powering by 2.5L is a 2.5-liter five-cylinder engine with 170 hp and 177 pound-feet of torque. Later in model year Volkswagen will replace the engine with a 1.8-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that generate 170 hp and 184 lb-ft. All Beetle is a front-wheel drive. For the 2.5L, a five-speed manual transmission is standard, while a six-speed automatic is cheating. In testing, a Beetle 2.5L with automatic go from zero to 60 mph in 9 seconds – about average for an automatic compact. Estimated EPA fuel economy for 2.5L is a disappointing 25 mpg combined (22 mpg city / 29 mpg for the automatic, 22/31 with the manual).

The 2014 Volkswagen Beetle R-Line and 2014 Volkswagen Beetle GSR get a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder that produces 210 hp and 207 lb-ft of torque. The six-speed manual is standard and a six-speed automated manual (DSG) is cheating. In performance testing, previous 200-hp Beetle Turbo with DSG go from zero to 60 mph in a quick 6.6 seconds. The uel economy with DSG is actually better than the five-cylinder is 26 mpg combined (24 city / 30).

As with the R-Line, buyers can choose between a six-speed manual and a six-speed DSG. The Fuel economy estimates stand at 32 mpg combined (28 city / 41 for the manual and 29/39 for the DSG).

All 2014 Volkswagen Beetle comes standard with traction and stability control, the antilock disc brakes, front side airbags, side curtain airbags and Volkswagen’s Car-Net telematics system. This new work with crash notification, deflated assistance, stolen vehicle location, remote door opening and geo-fencing (which allows parents to set boundaries for girls drivers). A rearview camera (late availability) is cheating.

In brake testing , a previous Beetle Turbo with 18-inch wheels came to a stop in 129 feet: disappointing for a sporty small car. Surprisingly, a normal 2.5 model standing at 122 feet – a bit better than average.

In government crash tests, the 2014 Volkswagen Beetle received five out of five stars for overall crash protection, with four stars for overall protection and track total five stars for side-impact protection. Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) for its top “good” rating in its moderate-overlap frontal-offset, side-impact and roof-strength test. IIHS’s newest small-overlap frontal-offset test, the 2014 Volkswagen Beetle received a rating of “minimal,” the third lowest of the four, although not all cars have been subjected to this test and some have earned a “good “rating.
